Emancipate Your Mind: 056: Recognizing and Releasing Codependency

Transcript

My experience with coaching has been that the majority of us from high demand religious backgrounds also experience codependent patterns in our relationships.

Codependency happens when we don’t have a clearly defined sense of self and instead look to others for a sense of identity and rely heavily on others for our sense of self worth. Some have gone so far as to call it an addiction to the approval and validation of others even at the detriment to our sense of emotional, mental, and physical health.

If you find yourself resenting people you care about, feeling like your needs are rarely if ever met, exhausted because it feels like the world is on your shoulders, and constantly worried about what others think of you, this podcast addresses those concerns and how to begin to unravel this pattern and begin to create relationships that both honor the people you love and your own needs too.
