One of the biggest sources of overwhelm, guilt, and even shame as we go through religious transition is the word “should”.
Coming from high demand religion, many of us have a pile of “shoulds” that we’ve been striving to meet our whole lives. Now that we’re deconstructing, and especially during the holiday season, these shoulds can become a heavy burden.
In this episode, we discuss why we likely continue to “should” on ourselves and why this behavior is likely doing more harm than good in our pursuit of growth and change.
We talk about how to use our “shoulds” as red flags that help us hear what we actually desire and then change our language and our thinking into a more empowering force behind the things we want to change and accomplish in life.
